PPK ORMAWA SIGAP: IMERCY FTMM x BEM FPK Assists Crab Cultivators in Tanjangawan Village with Integrated Vertical Crab House System

PPK ORMAWA SIGAP is a collaborative program between IMERCY FTMM and BEM FPK Airlangga University. The program selected Tanjangawan Village as its target location for the integrated Vertical Crab House system. The village holds strong crab-farming potential, supported by its coastal geography and confirmed through survey and regional mapping data. Residents also showed strong interest in modern crab-farming innovations. These factors led the team to choose Tanjangawan as the pilot village for the SIGAP program.

The project team held a socialization session and official launch of the SIGAP program in Tanjangawan, Gresik on Monday, July 20, 2026. The agenda covered opening remarks, a program introduction, and an open audience session with residents. Dr. Rezi Delfianti, M.T., as the mentor also attended the program, besides that the local residents were very enthusiastic in the session. During the audience session, ‘Akiqotus Syahriyah as leader explained how the crab apartment system works. The explanation covered the tiered container design and daily maintenance techniques farmers should apply. This system arranges tiered containers to maximize farming space and allows farmers to produce higher yields on limited land. 

SIGAP aims to boost mangrove crab productivity in Tanjangawan through an IoT-based crab house system, strengthening farmers' economic welfare. Local farmers will receive regular technical assistance from expert mentors. The organizing team also proposed the idea of forming a “SMART CRAB FARMING” group. This group will serve as a platform for farmers to develop crab farming collectively. Residents responded positively to the proposal, and the team will arrange follow-up meetings. 

The village head expressed appreciation for the SIGAP program's presence in the community. He hoped all residents would support the implementation of the program going forward. The SIGAP team committed to accompanying residents on a sustained basis for shared success. Collaboration among the village government, the organizing team, and residents remains key to the program's success.
